etroit Towers is an 18-story high-rise condominium on the Detroit Riverfront, facing Belle Isle and Windsor, Canada. Designed by Chicago architect, Walter W. Ahlschlager, and built in 1925, the building itself is a designated Detroit Historic District. It boasts elegant art deco interior design and custom woodwork within huge living units (2400-2700 square feet each) and an octagonal 2-story lobby/mezzanine. It has 35 residences (just 2 per floor) with shared elevator lobbies on each floor but no shared walls. Private, prestigious, quiet and truly full service.
Detroit Towers offers a riverside terrace and patio, landscaped lawns and gardens and a view that is unsurpassed -- from Lake St. Clair to Mid-town Detroit.
Detroit Towers is staffed 24/7 by doormen also serving as elevator operators (it still has original brass cage "lifts" from the 1920s). Residents have full valet service (they never have to find a parking space, retrieve a vehicle baking in the hot sun, or clear the snow off a windshield), parking in an attached garage, and personal delivery of all mail and packages to each door. Heat, water, all services and one garage space are included in the monthly fee.
Former residents at Detroit Towers include: Eddie Rickenbacker, the World War I flying ace and race car driver; Esther Gordy Edwards of Motown Records; designer and artist James Scripps Booth; William E. Scripps, co-founder of WWJ-AM radio, whose father founded The Detroit News; architect C. Howard Crane, and Martha Griffiths, Lieutenant Governor of Michigan.
Detroit Towers is professionally managed by Timmons Management.
